September 06, 2022

Jodie Comer's West End play has broken a big record thanks to its cinema broadcast release.

Prima Facie sees the Killing Eve star play a barrister who specialises in defending rapists, though has her perspective changed when she is raped.

The show, which played at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London earlier this year, has recently been streaming in cinemas thanks to the National Theatre Live series.

In a big win for the show, Prima Facie - NT Live has become the highest-grossing Event Cinema release of all time in the UK & Ireland, taking in an impressive £4.47 million. This beats the previous record held by the National Theatre Live production of Fleabag, moving past their total of £4.42m.

Following the successful run of the one-woman show, which is written by Suzie Miller and features music by Rebecca Lucy Taylor (aka Self Esteem), Prima Facie is set to move to Broadway in the US.
