Sky Releases Sneak-Peek Images For ‘Small Town, Big Story’

February 22, 2024

Christina Hendricks of "Good Girls" and "Mad Men" fame, along with Paddy Considine from "House of the Dragon" and "The World’s End," are featured in fresh images from the upcoming Sky Original series, "Small Town, Big Story." The three teaser shots showcase characters Wendy Patterson (played by Hendricks) and Séamus Proctor (played by Considine), as well as the inhabitants of Drumbán—a quaint town with a compelling narrative. These images mark the culmination of filming for the series, which took place in Ireland, including picturesque locations like County Wicklow and Boyle. The brainchild of Chris O’Dowd, known for "Moone Boy," this heartwarming, humorous, and intensely dramatic comedy is set to debut on Sky and NOW in Autumn 2024.

The six-part series unfolds in a rural town situated on the border of Ireland and another world, exploring the repercussions when a Hollywood production descends on the community, shining a light on a long-held secret dating back to the eve of the Millennium.

Creator and director Chris O’Dowd expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I bloody love television, and am most engrossed by stories that bring the remarkable to the everyday. I hope we’ve made a beautiful show that an audience will find funny and will keep people on the edge of their seats…and beyond.”

The released images introduce key residents of the fictitious Irish village:

Séamus Proctor (played by Considine), the local doctor, is a respected figure in the community with a seemingly well-ordered life. However, as a film crew invades the town, a celluloid circus threatens to expose a secret he has harbored since the Millennium.

Wendy Patterson (played by Hendricks), a local girl turned successful TV producer in Los Angeles, returns to Drumbán after more than two decades, accompanied by a film crew. Caught between her tumultuous past and the creation of a significant new production, Wendy navigates the chaotic microcosm of Drumbán.

The White Ridge bar serves as the quintessential Irish pub at the heart of the village, where a group of eccentric Drumbán residents congregates. This ensemble includes Keith McCurdle (played by David Wilmot), Barbara the butcher (played by Michelle Forbes), Matt Magee (played by Peter McGann), and barkeep Shelly McGoldrick (played by Evanne Kilgallon).
