‘The Crow’ Reboot With Bill Skarsgård & FKA Twigs Flies To Lionsgate In Eight-Figure Domestic Deal – Toronto

September 07, 2023

Lionsgate has recently sealed an eight-figure deal for the domestic rights to the highly-anticipated reboot of "The Crow."

Bill Skarsgård, renowned for his role in "It," the multi-talented singer-songwriter FKA twigs, known for her work in "Honeyboy," and the accomplished Danny Huston from "Succession" headline the cast of director Rupert Sanders' reimagination of the 1994 cult classic. This revival promises to pay homage to the unforgettable original, which featured Brandon Lee in his final film role.

The core storyline, shared by both films, revolves around a man who suffers a brutal murder and subsequently returns from the grave as an undead vigilante, seeking vengeance for his own death and the murder of his fiancée. These narratives are drawn from the pages of the gothic graphic novel created, written, and illustrated by James O’Barr.

CAA Media Finance negotiated the deal for the film's domestic rights, with oversight from John Biondo representing Lionsgate. The agreement was officially inked late on Wednesday night, coinciding with the launch of the TIFF festival and market. Fans eagerly anticipate the movie's release, scheduled for the coming year.

The screenplay for this reboot boasts the talents of Oscar nominee Zach Baylin (King Richard) and Will Schneider. Also starring are Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A Son), and Jordan Bolger (The Woman King).

The Crow is produced by Victor Hadida (Resident Evil), Molly Hassell (Terminal), John Jencks (Honest Thief), the late Samuel Hadida (True Romance), and the late Edward R. Pressman (The Crow). Production companies are Davis Films, Hassell Free Productions, Electric Shadow Company, and Pressman Film, which is now led by Sam Pressman.

The film was shot on location in Prague and Munich. International sales are handled by FilmNation, which already has closed a raft of deals.
