‘Conclave’ Hits $100 Million Milestone at Global Box Office
February 18, 2025"Conclave" is set to surpass the $100 million mark at the global box office this week, marking a significant achievement for a film targeting adult audiences. This milestone follows a triumphant night at the BAFTAs, where the papal thriller secured four awards—best film, best British film, best adapted screenplay, and best editing—tying with "The Brutalist" for the most wins.
“This is such a personal film for me, so to hear how it has connected with and entertained so many movie lovers around the world makes me very happy,” said director Edward Berger in a statement. “I am very grateful to our incredible partners releasing ‘Conclave’ who have helped this film reach its utmost potential.”
FilmNation Entertainment, which both produced the film and oversees its international rollout, reports that "Conclave" has currently grossed $98.5 million worldwide. Of that total, $66.3 million comes from international markets, while $32.2 million has been generated in North America. In the U.S., the film is being distributed by Focus Features and is currently playing in 300 locations following its October release.
Upcoming key markets for the film include Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. "Conclave" was produced on a budget of approximately $20 million.
“Distributors have been telling us what their audiences want, and we have been listening,” said FilmNation Entertainment CEO Glen Basner. “Moviegoers want a compelling and entertaining experience at the cinema, and audiences are more discerning than ever. ‘Conclave’ is the perfect storm of great directing, writing and acting and shows us how the independent model works.”
