Ed Helms Announces Book Inspired by Snafu Podcast: ‘Tribute to Humanity’s Finest Face-Plants’

December 04, 2024

Ed Helms is expanding the reach of his podcast, *Snafu with Ed Helms*, to a whole new medium.

PEOPLE has exclusively revealed that the actor and comedian, 50, is set to release a book inspired by the podcast. *Snafu: The Definitive Guide to History’s Greatest Screwups* will be published next spring by Grand Central Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group.

According to the book’s official synopsis, *Snafu* delves into “America’s biggest mishaps” from recent decades. Acting as an “unofficial history teacher,” Helms explores events such as feline training in the CIA and attempts at weaponizing the weather.

The illustrated book promises to provide “fresh insights that just might prevent history from repeating itself again and again.”

Helms launched the *Snafu* podcast in 2022, examining historical events like the Able Archer 83 military exercise, which simulated a nuclear attack, and the 1971 Media FBI heist. In 2023, Deadline reported that the podcast was renewed for a third season, with the first two seasons available to stream now.

The *Hangover* star expresses his excitement about translating the podcast into book form, telling PEOPLE, “This new book is a loving tribute to humanity’s finest face-plants — the hilarious, head-scratching, and occasionally inspiring blunders that shape our world and make historians spit-take.”

*Snafu: The Definitive Guide to History’s Greatest Screwups* will be available on April 29, 2025, and is currently available for preorder wherever books are sold.
