October 24, 2023

Oscar-winner Halle Berry is set to star in the psychological thriller “The Process” under the direction of Tara Miele. Alongside her, Berry will also serve as a producer, teaming up with her producing partner, Holly Jeter, through their production company HalleHolly. The film will also see Robert Kravis and Karl Herrmann producing through their banner, Pioneer Pictures, with additional production by Julia Sandberg Hansson.

FilmNation Entertainment will be responsible for international sales of the movie at the American Film Market (AFM). In North America, Verve Ventures and WME Independent will jointly represent the film rights. Notably, Halle Berry was attached to the project even before the SAG-AFTRA strike took place.

The plot revolves around a seemingly content married couple who decide to participate in a weekend seminar hosted by Aiden, a well-known self-help guru. During the seminar, they are prompted to evaluate their individual lives, careers, and, most significantly, their marriage. However, when Kirsa resists Aiden's unconventional "process" and his devoted followers, while Peter fully embraces it, their relationship and mental well-being are pushed to the brink. The screenplay for "The Process" was written by Levin Menekse, and it originally appeared on the Black List.

Producers Robert Kravis and Karl Herrmann from Pioneer Pictures expressed their excitement about collaborating with HalleHolly to bring Levin's remarkable screenplay to life. They praised Tara Miele's vision for the film, describing it as a Kubrickian psychological thriller that delves into the enigmatic world of self-help cults. They also lauded Halle Berry's interpretation of Kirsa, the lead character, as a woman grappling with the challenges of preserving her marriage and her sanity in the midst of an oppressive cult of personality. This combination promises to deliver a gripping and unforgettable cinematic experience.
