‘The Life Of Chuck’: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan & Jacob Tremblay Join Stephen King Adaptation From Mike Flanagan And Trevor Macy’s Intrepid Pictures

October 23, 2023

Chiwetel Ejiofor (Rob Peace), Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) and Jacob Tremblay (The Toxic Avenger) have joined the cast of "The Life of Chuck." This film is the latest in a series of Stephen King adaptations directed by filmmaker Mike Flanagan, famous for "Doctor Sleep." Production for the movie began in Alabama earlier this month, operating under an interim agreement.

The ensemble for the film is led by Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill, and it is written and directed by Mike Flanagan, as previously reported. Additionally, QWGmire, a notable production and financing entity, has made a substantial equity investment in this independently financed project. QWGmire has been associated with indie horror films like "Agnes" and the upcoming "Lovely, Dark and Deep."

Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty, and Elan Gale, the partners at QWGmire, expressed their excitement about collaborating with Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy on this venture. They praised Flanagan as a master storyteller and are eager to bring his inspirational adaptation of Stephen King's short story to audiences.

"The Life of Chuck" is based on three interconnected stories from King's 2020 anthology, "If It Bleeds." The film explores the life of Charles Krantz in reverse, starting with his death at the age of 39 due to a brain tumor and concluding with his childhood in a house believed to be haunted. Flanagan and his longtime partner at Intrepid Pictures, Macy, will produce the feature adaptation. Domestic sales will be handled by WME Independent, while FilmNation Entertainment will oversee international distribution.
