Margaret Qualley, Michael Shannon & Drew Starkey To Star In Jeff Nichols’ Southern Gothic Horror King Snake

October 31, 2025

Margaret Qualley (The Substance, Maid), Drew Starkey (Outer Banks, Queer), and Michael Shannon (Nuremberg, George & Tammy) are set to star in Jeff Nichols’ upcoming feature King Snake.

Nichols will produce alongside his longtime Tri-State Pictures partners Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Sarah Green, in association with Range Media Partners. Described as a Southern gothic horror, the film centers on a young couple (Qualley and Starkey) who inherit a farm in rural Arkansas and are forced to confront the dark, supernatural forces that have cursed its history.

Production is expected to begin next year.

Nichols said in a statement that he and his producing partners are “thrilled to be working again with Glen Basner and his exceptional team,” calling King Snake “a bold and haunting story about the collision of faith, fear, and myth in the American South.”

FilmNation is financing the film and handling international sales at the American Film Market.

Nichols is represented by CAA and Goodman Genow. Qualley is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern. Starkey is repped by Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Goodman Genow. Shannon is repped by CAA, Range Media Partners, and Yorn Levine.
