Production is ramping up on Lords of War, Andrew Niccol’s sequel to his 2005 crime thriller Lord of War, with filming set to begin later this month in Belgium and Morocco.

Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049, The Girl in the Spider’s Web) and Greg Tarzan Davis (Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning) have joined the cast, starring alongside Nicolas Cage, Bill Skarsgård, and Laura Harrier.

The film reunites Niccol with Cage, who reprises his role as notorious arms dealer Yuri Orlov. This time, Orlov faces off against his son Anton (Skarsgård), who has gone beyond his father’s trade by building a mercenary army to fight America’s wars in the Middle East. Their rivalry spills over into both the battlefield and their personal lives, as father and son find themselves competing for the same woman.

Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi of Vendôme Pictures are producing, alongside Cage under his Saturn Films banner. Skarsgård serves as an executive producer.

FilmNation Entertainment is handling international sales, with CAA Media Finance overseeing domestic rights. Hoeks recently appeared in Apple TV+’s See and Jordan Scott’s Berlin Nobody. Her upcoming projects include Hurricana, So Much for Love, and Mother, which she also executive produces. Davis’s credits include The Call of the Wild, Top Gun: Maverick, and the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Vendôme previously produced the Oscar-winning CODA and recently announced Morten Tyldum’s Ibelin, starring Charlie Plummer and Anthony Hopkins.

Hoeks is represented by Independent Talent Group, UTA, Untitled Entertainment, Willemijn Tuip/Copper en Co, and Cheryl Snow at Gang Tyre Ramer Brown & Passman. Davis is represented by CAA, Range Media Partners, and Hansen Jacobson.
