Oscars 2025: 'Anora' dominates with 5 Academy Awards
March 03, 2025FilmNation Entertainment had a remarkable night at the 97th Academy Awards, with "Anora" emerging as the biggest winner of the evening. Sean Baker’s gripping drama took home five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, cementing its place as one of the most celebrated films of the year.
Baker, who not only directed but also wrote, edited, and co-produced "Anora," made history by winning four Academy Awards in a single night. This feat ties Walt Disney’s long-standing record for the most Oscars won by an individual in one ceremony. Unlike Disney, who won for multiple projects, Baker’s sweep was solely for "Anora," showcasing his singular vision and artistry.
Mikey Madison’s powerful performance as the film’s titular character earned her the award for Best Actress, further solidifying "Anora’s" dominance. Yura Borisov also received recognition for his performance, earning a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Baker’s screenplay was honored with the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, while his deft editing secured a win for Best Film Editing.
FilmNation was also proud to see "Conclave" receive critical acclaim and recognition at the Academy Awards. The gripping political thriller, adapted from Robert Harris’ novel, won Best Adapted Screenplay for Peter Straughan’s masterful work. The film’s stunning visuals, anchored by Suzie Davies’ intricate production design, earned it a nomination in that category, while Nick Emerson’s editing also received recognition. Ralph Fiennes delivered a commanding performance as Cardinal Lomeli, securing a Best Actor nomination, and Isabella Rossellini’s compelling supporting role earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Additionally, Volker Bertelmann’s evocative score was recognized with a nomination for Best Original Score.
